Biography Marthalicia Matarrita Born and raised in Harlem, New York City. Marthalicia has many art disciplines such as drawing, sculpting, painting and creating large murals and is always expanding in new mediums. Current area of art dialogue is based on educating the harmony between animals and humans, in many unique presentations. Marthalicia early stages: Sharng "black books" graffitti art journals as well as comic books were her past time. Encouraged by faith to persue the art form, Marthalicia entered La Guardia High School of Performance and the Arts, and upon graduating high school, she enlisted in the Army National Guard. She enrolled in S.U.N.Y. New Paltz for B.F.A. in Fine Arts. Her art resume further in her new art journey "Live Art Performance" Today, Marthalicia has broaden her art experiences to many difference avenues in art venues, and oppourtunites where she builds with her community and others.

URB ALT FESTIVAL 2009 SHOWS VISUAL APPEAL AT THE HARLEM SCHOOL OF THE ARTS

Marthalicia Matarrita, Ed Marshall, Jaclyn Roberts, Tim Fielder and more display visual arts in Harlem with book excerpt reading by Farai Chideya and musical sets by Kaneng Lolang and MuthaWit Orchestra.

NEW YORK, NY (June 11, 2009) - The fourth annual URB ALT Festival presents the hippest of multi-cultural music/film/visual/literary artists at New York City's Public Assembly(6/20), Harlem School of the Arts(6/24) and BAMcafe(6/26 and 6/27). URB ALT Festival 2009 is a 4 day celebration of cutting-edge arts that rolls out it's first visual arts exhibition and arts workshop on Wednesday, June 24 at the Harlem School of the Arts. The FREE event features exciting alternative artists from various forms of media including award-winning live art painter Marthalicia Matarrita; experimental graphic designer and magazine publisher YAMS; media blending photographer Jaclyn Roberts; provocative underground comic artist Everett “Zatt” Glenn; light bending alternative arts photographer Ed Marshall; and 3d/2d animator/filmmaker/conceptual designer Tim Fielder; and abstract representational photographer, Ira Merritt. The date will also feature a reading from "Kiss the Sky," the new rock music novel by author/journalist/radio host Farai Chideya, a musical performance by Nigerian folk/soul chanteuse/experimental filmmaker Kaneng Lolang and an acoustic show by the MuthaWit Orchestra.
