"Art Episodes" : Features GIANNINA GUTIERREZ. Filmed and edited by: Marthalicia Matarrita

Gia Gutierrez, live art performer living in Harlem.

I featured her for several reasons. She is female, and also a painter. She is Latina and also living in Harlem. I found her work to be very inspiring and touching the realm of Salvador Dali's free spirited style and conceptualized in the figurative manner.

I am planning on continuing featuring many live art performers like her to tell a story of the need to utilize paint and art in public manner for many to see and witness the how dynamic it truly is to have such a night life combination while being in New York City.

do hope you enjoy these short documentaries, I am trying hard to filming and editing for such a cause. Its not about me, its not about them, its about OUR need to convey this important message of   "Saving The Arts now, and for our Children's Future".

Preview of a past video:

"The Artist Process part 1" captured by Jorge Matarrita from Marthalicia (m)2 on Vimeo.

THE ARTIST PROCESS

Saturday September 4th, 2010

joined others at 5 Pointz, a well-known quarter in Queens, NY, where artists from all over come out to create art and celebrate freedom of expression by showcasing their art across building walls. The artists took to the famed brick canvas to paint the phrase “The Artist Process” as feleciacruz (co-founder of Fighting For Futures) captured it all on film. Acclaimed New York City “live art performer” and director of this project, Marthalicia, was quoted as saying:

“We all live in NYC, so we all have a rhythm…These are just

layers, you can say, of all the art that has been expressed here...

I hope this event can show and tell people there is a lot of love

for the creating and hopefully this love can equal positive energy.”

The Artist Process, a film by Marthalicia and a feleciacruz production, is a twelve-minute documentary created to showcase the power of human expression through art. Following the lives of four artists, including Marthalicia, Lichiban, Mister Metro and Danielle Mastrion, The Artist Process captures the intimate details of the artists’ lives as they prepare for the project and the connection they share with the other locals as they combine forces in an effort to bring a community together through their collective expression.

A powerful and colorful statement about expression, communication and compassion, The Artist Process will have its debut screening at "Headquarters" (1381 Myrtle Ave .Brooklyn, Ny) on Saturday, September 4, 2010, along with live performances by local musicians and will showcase works by the artists involved in The Artist Process. Donations will be collected throughout the night and portions of proceeds from both the door and the sale of the artwork will be donated to help fund The Artist Process 2, helping bring together even more artists and bring to light the importance of artistic expression in our communities.

I am glad to see the amount of people that are in this special program.  I am so thrilled to see that this program was developed to help those that cant help themselves, those children that need them. With the help of Laurie Markiewics and Peter Pegan, they with their friends were able to develop this program to raise awareness their the kind act of art.

I know Laurie personally, and I know she is an amazing woman, one that cares a lot of others and has shown also a tremendous courage to keep on fighting for betterment of the health of her son Jack, and countless others who like Jack suffers from AUTISM.

Please join me, and all the people that Love life, and fight for peace, in this unique experience. I will be grateful to you.
