Biography
Marthalicia Matarrita
Born and raised in Harlem, New York City. Marthalicia has many art disciplines such as drawing, sculpting, painting and creating large murals and is always expanding in new mediums.
Current area of art dialogue is based on educating the harmony between animals and humans, in many unique presentations.
Marthalicia early stages:
Sharng "black books" graffitti art journals as well as comic books were her past time.
Encouraged by faith to persue the art form, Marthalicia entered La Guardia High School of Performance and the Arts, and upon graduating high school, she enlisted in the Army National Guard.
She enrolled in S.U.N.Y. New Paltz for B.F.A. in Fine Arts. Her art resume further in her new art journey "Live Art Performance"
Today, Marthalicia has broaden her art experiences to many difference avenues in art venues, and oppourtunites where she builds with her community and others.
On I have donated a few of my old traditional, never been seen paintings to this fundraiser event! I am in aw by Cathleen, who's motivation for this fundraiser events, is to help others with the aid of photographer and film over seas. November 21st & 22nd from 10:00am - 10:00pm at Gallery 151 located at 350 Bowery Street in Manhattan's Lower East Side, hosts "Sell It All NYC ~ A Weekend Bazaar to Fight Human Trafficking."
People donating goods to the bazaar will have a chance to free up space in their closets; shoppers will be able to find items fit for every room in the home at recession busting prices and vendors Will donate their salesmanship for two great charitable causes, Fighting for Futures & Restore NYC.

I have to admit this, I can not stress it to you, how the BONDFIRE concert series has been growing bigger as the months passes on. I was able to connect with many people new and the regulars that attend and witness this monthly show. This was a special night not just for me, but for a dear friend of mine named Conscious a.k.a. The Bronx Uber Villain , who's show was also to celebrate his birthday. If you know me, you do understand how much I stress the love for working together, and creating a community of talented folks, together. This collective unification of talent pours out to who ever see and listens and view the performance at the Bowery Poetry Club. This event that past on October was noted by many as one of the most important shows that demonstrated dedication of the words and the important of respecting each other while at the same time enjoying the fresh styles. Tons of people arrived ON TIME for this show, awaiting the previous poetry reading to arrive to a finish. Our excitement accelerated once Conscious arrived in the lobby, waiting section of this facility. At this particular moment the free styles started to organize as we all waited to our time to enter, event the performers for the stage already started to write as to who will perform first! How neat was that! From this crowd, I was able to catch a glimpse of Nia Andino and Chango Bi... who I was able to see from the massive crowd. As soon as saw them, the infamous ELIZABETH a.k.a. LIZ who takes the awesome photos of many cool events all over New York City, arrived with high heels... tee hee.
The lobby area couldn't contain more people as some even waited out side the main doors, as the rain started to pick up. Luckily it wasn't cold for those folks outside.
The time to gather at the BONFIRE arena, and every one got a comfortable standing view, no chairs were allowed, just the stance of the audience as most concerts are held this way. I also saw Ana Pichardo, another up in coming photographer doing her thang, as she introduced me to her close friends who traveled so far as to witness and perform under the cold Tuesday night at the Bowery. What a trooper! Homeboy Sandman and amongst many to list arrived promptly as the light dimmed.... BOOOooooooo for me, they cut off any light source to where I was standing. It wasn't my first time where I was placed in a situation where there was little to no light, ( I can count both my hands where this type of situation occurred). Conscious did his best to accommodate me on stage but I refused, I already got my traditional corner well secured and on the ready. I tell ya, if it wasn't for the many cameras and itouch that random people helped me illuminate my canvas, I wont tell ya how I could have recognize what I have created.
enough about my dilemma... the show ROCKED!!!! Eagle Nebula was on stage, and she did her thang! ooouuuwwww and YC the cynic and others did what they are very good at and the Harmony or words with sounds and the performance was unbelievable.
There is so much to tell, share and explore together for this past event that was held on Sunday September 20th. I wouldn't have done this without the many help that I got from real down to earth, creative, gifted, talented people that share the same passion for their ability to create and share with others. If it wasn't for their belief for my vision for this documentary, I truly can say to you now, that I wouldn't have gone this far with this vision... not at all. Without these amazing people, this art project/event wouldn't be a reality, that also have affected many other people to realize that positive people can get together and make a difference.
The list of people that have worked with me from the beginning are: Felecia Cruz. She is a person to look at, who is making changes for others over seas, with creative art projects. She has held many Fundraiser events at Club Europa, where she calls FIGHTING FOR FUTURES, that helps other unfortunates get to school or have programs in school that integrates arts, such as her passion PHOTOGRAPHY and FILM. She has helped me document the many artist that was featured in this documentary along side with Victoria Holt super cool photographer and a mother like me. Kya BlissProductions, who is really Ana Pichardo, mega cool chica who has trooped it to many artist's home and has sacrificed financial needs to support with this art project.

Meres Need I say more... A dude like this one, who's hands has influenced many New York city streets, with his ideas/ light bulbs, that is recognizable even in Europe. His influence in Graffiti has lead him to have a fantastic relationship with owner of 5Pointz, who then allowed Meres to organize New York City artist, and else where to bless those walls with street art. This place, the 5 Pointz has been up since the early 70's. And the unfortunate event that had occurred this summer, 2009, has lead the 5 Pointz to be shot down. But for Meres who is a dear friend of my, has granted me the usage of this legendary place for the film / documentary that I was organizing, a shout out to him! He dedicated this wall, even helped prime the entire wall's length, with also the help of my beloved cousin Yadira S, and CHARM an awesome cool ass graff writer, film, photo, truck driver, etc etc.. Thank you so much MERES, you rock
The list of extraordinary visual artist filed the walls with colors and joy as they proceeded to design and get down in front of known and strangers alike, and shared unity with the music as they bask in the last days of summer, while watching some cool ass break dancing from b boy 360 and his friends, and my older brother ATOMIC and his friends. But during the beginning process of getting all this together wasn't easy. I was so nervous and agitated that certain things didn't follow through, but as I physically stood back, and saw so many people smiling and having a good time, I let loose and jumped right back into place. Once my friend WHYLEE, a dude you will be hearing so much from, help place his sound system together and shared with the many MC's, who then got real, got so open, got so expressive and which made the crowd so hyped and motivated ! For real, it was that simple... so thrilling that the event is still ringing and echoing strongly in my mind as if it happened just yesterday !
Whats even cooler about Sunday September 20th, Gigi Bio and Alex Bershaw and I had a sequel to the Frida Khalo series of photoshoot that depiced my appreciation and admiration to her via a photoshoot at 5 Pointz, that was some how blended so well into the "The Artist Process" fundraiser event.

I am very excited to present to you all a very special event that will happen on Sunday, September 20th: A day where a handful of very successful, dynamic, inspiring New York City artist get together to create a large mural piece in a collaborative manner for the public to see. Join us as we experience "The Artist Process" documentary; one of many series; at a mural performance piece at one of the walls of legendary 5 Pointz in Queens. This event is also a fundraiser for our film coverage, Fighting for Futures production, created by Felecia Cruz, and also 5 Pointz revitalizing project.
At this event I will present also special musical guests, break dancers and very cool t-shirt vendors, with urban wear. There will also be a BBQ;
*Important: please bring some dishes from home or else where to share with others at this BBQ. Help make this event be about a friendly family community oriented event. These artist will take breaks and will need some fuel. A BBQ grill will be on post. More on the understanding behind the documentary:
This is a group project whose main focus is dedicated to, “The Artists Process”. The show will run with Photographers and Film Makers meeting at each individual artists home. The Photographer and Film Maker will solely document the hands and feet as the artists wake up & go about their daily routine. This visual element will create a more dynamic approach to interpreting both visual & sound as the artist gets ready to leave their home until they arrive at their final location, 5 Pointz, (famous graffiti landmark in Queens). All the artist will be documented in this similar fashion. Focusing on the feet will represent movement and daily activities of each artist.
From the beginning of this documentary, the "natural" sounds of their daily activity will be the only thing the viewer will hear, but once the colors are mixed onto the artists palette, the sounds will be mixed into loops and MC's voices as each MC will provide a hook or a "line".
Come out and experience this expose into the lives of those who live for art and live to perform it live. Artists included for this event: Marthalicia Matarrita, Lexi Bella, Lissette Barros, Broke Mc, Sean Bono, John Smalls, Spaze Craft, Lichiban, Venus Rodriguez, Mista Metro & much more.

Every LAST THURSDAY of every month, Sole Food NYC, provides programs for and by the productive, ongoing, creative ladies from New York City, and Sole Food NYC does it well. This past Thursday, Sole Food had me painting live, OUT SIDE, (because it was way crowed indoors, so I took the liberty to paint out doors as the night fell hard, and fast. Program started from 7pm until 10pm, and I got there around 7:30 is, my bad. I took my son with me so that he can see what I do and play and mingle with close friends of mine at this HOT trendy spot. Now that you have an idea of who and what they do, this night at their place, I was able to paint Live with my son. I got there a bit late, and I was able to rock an painting out doors, while enjoying the company of Nina Norwood, an up incoming artist from Brooklyn, who so traveled far with her 5 month old son ( *I am dearly touched by her glorious presence at the show, moved me so much that she went out her way to see me and the show, SHE DEFIANTLY has a very strong spirit!) As also another dear friend Frankie Velez, also from Brooklyn made his guest appearance at the spot, how honored I am to have also seen him that night. He was so nice, and courteous, that he took some of these awesome shots, plus parlay a bit about life, art and everything in between. As the night approached, I offered Nina the opportunity to paint with me, since there were sufficient card board around, and she started to GET down on it on it next to me, SHE ROCKS! She painted, we all talked and pretty much the night ended with comfort and delight of growth in the discussion of making art in New York City. In my piece that I did today, I wanted to make a conversation of Life and Death, and how we are disassociated of the idea or it. Why I bring it up, well, the passing of many either famous and non famous people that I have know, made me think as to how we are as a person and how we are to one another in a society as well as how we value ourselves with the concept of passing over. The "planting of seed" which is what the children are doing and dropping it in the eyes of the skull, suggest, planting seed in the eyes of the Behondler. What you sow is what you reap. What you give is what your will end up getting in return, pretty much. As you know, a child is the most important key in making a better society in the future, and what better way is to pass on great values and opportunity while YOUR STILL LIVING, am I right?
Yes its true, very true. As long as I can remember, I never, or hardly went out clubbing, or do other activities such as those, until I reached the age of 27. Sure, my older brother helped me sneak in to wacky clubs, but that didn't satisfy my curiosity as to what clubbing was. Now 2009 I felt more confident in expressing how much I love art and shared it with many of art friends and people that mean a lot to me, all in one night, April 21, 2009. One major conversation that I had with Lexi Bella, and myself that occurred this year was very much insightful. We both discovered that we have so much similarities. Similarities such as art and shared birthdays on the same month of April. It had occurs to both of us that we needed to do something special, something fun and memorable. Interestingly enough we both knew many artist that paint live in New York city and thought it would be even great to have them participate in our "Birthday Art Bash", where not only Lexi Bella and myself painting live, but also our art friends, that wanted to participate were scheduled to perform that same day.
