Art Episode :: Presents ::: Voices Unbroken featurng Poet La Bruja and Wonder Lee

Cant help it but to smile, that  really cant explain in words, the actual feeling I got from being in this event. The fact that they asked for me, that they got me a free canvas fr me to work on, and the "bidding" of my art while I was working on it, was beyond words can describe.
I was working along side another dynamic painter by the name of Sien Ide, who has many versatile ways of utilizing his art skills. ( there will be more on him n the next couple of months).

BONDFIRE: Tuesday November 30, 2010 ( carty event to raise money for COOLIE HIGH ) Auctioning my art

There are many people out there that have done through the most toughest times in their lives. Some people suffer dramatically and have an ongoing trauma about these situations. The reason why I'm bringing this up, s because a dear friend, fellow talented MC by the name of Coolie High, has saw his home catch on fire and burn down. Now he has no where else to go, and has lost everything

The Bonfire Family, that hosts monthly events at the Bowery Poetry Club, has created a venue where they will raise money to help Coolie High.

If your around, and want to help him, I suggest to swing my, as I also Paint Live, with fellow friend John Smalls, and have our pieces that we do LIVE to whom ever purchase these tickets at the main entrance. We all win, we all help out.

Art Episode:: Presents::: Michael Haff at Crash Mansion

I met Michael Haff that very same night that I documented him. Great guy, a mutual friend by Michael Amorillo. His site :   http://michaelamorillo.com/category/blog/  who know of him introduced me a while back. We corresponded a few times here and there, and by the time this great event was arriving, I needed to film an artist ( since I booked another great soul, dynamic art friend by the name of CONSCIOUS; he's a host of a monthly event thats called the BONDFIRE at the Bowery Poetry Club with Tasty Keish)

Another goodie was that another friend that made this event all possible, goes by E.M. Theories, or Alfonse. For nearly 1 year and a half, we been trying to incorporate LIVE art into his dynamic musical combination of music and the many different art forms, and because of him I am totally grateful for also letting me plug in other artist into this great festive event.

The Antagonist Art Movement: Doll

I am very honored and fortunate to have had the chance to participate with the Antagonist Art movement in the past couple of years. This time around, Their movement had a few hand made dolls that were created by one founder of the movement by the name of Ethan Minsker. This dude is way cool, and is well rounded and know way too much about the art movement in New York City. He even offers the chance for other artist to show and present their art work in Lower Manhattan at a place called Niagara Bar and Lounge, located at: 112 Avenue A [at 7th Street] New York City. number: 212-420-9517 http://www.niagarabar.com/

The following information is from The Antagonist Art Movement BLOG post:
What are the Dolls Of Lisbon?

It’s the next overseas art show in Portugal.

The plan: 10 to 20 artists, musicians, and filmmakers travel to Lisbon

for 10 days of creative events. Ted can give you more on the artist’s

statement. For my part I’m working on the film that documents the

event. I’ve already been shooting for 8 months.

The Dolls

I’m making 100 dolls for artists to paint change and make their own.

We will then show them in Lisbon. It takes me about 9 hours to do one.

I start with a wire frame then take strips of cut up t-shirts and

build up the body, and then I cover it tightly with canvas. It’s hard

so the artists can paint it. I’ve made 64 dolls. 16 went to Lisbon, 6

Berlin, 2 Baltimore, 1 Roma, and the rest in and around NYC.
How do you get to work on a doll?
You have to show with us on a Thursday art show. If we like your work we will ask you to do a doll.

We were hoping to go in October or November of '09 but it looks more

like May of 2010.

What is the hold up?

We are waiting for written conformation from the gallery and city.

Bring on the bitching. Artists and other Antagonist keep harassing me about the date. I get it, you want to know so you can take off time from work and get a deal on a ticket. Well I could make up a date, but that won’t help you. When I know the dates you will know the dates.

Stop asking me.

You can see a selection of dolls at the Antagonist show on October 17th to November 12th at the Mindy Wyatt Gallery, 814 Broadway, 2nd floor, NYC.
If you are one of our artists who is working on a doll post a photo here.

ART EPISODES:::: PRESENTS :::: T T K at Best Buy

I saw TTK's art work at a sneaker shop ( SOLE FOOD NYC ), off of Canal street a few years back. I have admire his creativity and his style, as I saw rows of dynamic art pieces and language over his subject matter... and hearing word of mouth how cool of a guy he was, sinked in my mind.

A year ago, fall season, I met him in person at GALLERY BAR, where we both were painting live. We befriended prior to the event via all the possible networks, and really got into the art conversations.

Meeting him there and seeing his methods, and getting to know mines, as well as those of my brothers ( they so happened to be there with me to paint a collaborative piece), gave him a better perspective of what I can do. It was mega cool to really connect.

I felt it was necessary to really explore a bit TTK's world in a such a short time I have with him, sincee he travels quite a bit, and really explore his art craft and ideas with other.. I am here to present to you a GLIMPSE of his world, and I hope you enjoy his art as I do.

The End of Sept - Beginning of OCT ( a spiritual event ). A very true and disturbing story that happend to me.

I can not help myself, I need to express this event that happened to me.
Take this read as a message, or a lesson.

A few weeks back, I celebrated at home. I was given a foreign beverage from Peru, which no one wanted. This drink tasted like tap water, and old oranges.

This night, lucky my son went to sleep, and so I was trying to enjoy this nght with a movie, and merely relaxing at home. After drinking this berverage, I then started to sweat. I then started to feel trememndouly cold. ( this night the temperature out side was fair, but not drastic enough for any long sleaves not winter clothing).

I started to notice that the base of the BACK of my neck and all the way down to my shoulder blades, and my entire back started to feel very hot, and then cold at the same time. Oh boy, I thought to myself, I thought I was getting sick.  then began to shiver more so every time a minute or two passes. Sitting on a couch, I then began to see that I wasn't feeling good around my arms, especially around the pit, the location before the forearm and the biceps. This too was getting cold and hot at the same time.

I thought that maybe the food I ate had a strange affect on me, so I headed to the bathroom to let out this , what ever this was , out. But I didn't do nothing, just sat there. The sweating began again, and the cold and hot feeling on my back got worse. Then all the hair of my forearm was raised very high. I didn't know what was happening to me. I staid in the bathroom for 4 hours. Then I vomited.

My stomach was then empty, and this flu like feeling didn't go? tea, soup, seltzer water, anything I took, didn't staid...again the bathroom was my station.

______________________________________________________________________________

What took place after was indescribable. But I am trying to piece these things to gather to have a sense of things.
_______________________________________________________________________________

I sat there, and started to cry... I felt physically hurt, drained and tired. Saturday night wasn't a relaxing night at all. Then I closed my eyes: ( feeling cold... my entire body was in a weird place.. I felt as if I was in a bubble of cold and hot sensations externally.). My back was even hotter, my arms got my hair standing high? what was going on? I felt I was in a static bubble. It did feel that way. Starting to cry more... I close my eyes. AND I felt I was somewhere else. I saw dark grey room..no windows, and then ripples that came across the top and bottom of my peripheral. This ripple activate every time I took deep breathes... and the sobbing I was doing made these ripples more active. And the more active these slightly invisible ripples became, the more colors in these lines where.... this dark grey room was fluid. and it led me to a form, that later became the face of my mother, as I "channeled" her in my mind. I heard her breathing. I heard her scratching her nose, while she was laying on her side, with her eyes closed....

The sick feeling, I had to snap myself out of this very strange vortex I was going. I had to get a grip. But how if my entire body didn't want me to grasp myself while being this is force field...

The time was 2am. Saturday became Sunday morning.  didn't eat.
I lay in bed trying to recoup.

I closed my eyes, and sounds, and eyes is what I saw.... all that kept rehearsing in my heard was these words: "PROCESSING... CHANNELING" I had then horrible dreams of eyes wide open.. staring at me...
I screamed out loud to leave me alone. I didn't sleep because I started to fear sleeping.

Sunday morning, and I didn't sleep. I was sick, and miserable. I felt that if I take a shower maybe this will soothing my mind a bit to help me get rid of this awful feeling. My son is now awake. I get out, and still not any better. I try to eat to regain my strength... but that didn't helped. I throw up every thing. My son was worried,, and  I was too.

I cant let my son see me this way.... is all I said to myself. helpless hopeless....  told him "mommy isn't feeling well today" and he said "its alright.... snuggle with me, I take care of you", as he turns on his mini DVD player for me to watch his cartoons. I then got out, got my son some cereal with milk, banana and a cookie.

again, my body didn't want to eat, it was shivering.... sweating... hurt, and every time I closed my eyes... I felt that I wasn't here, in reality. ( I thought then the beverage that I drank must have been tampered with).

Sunday night, we order out. I didn't eat, but felt worse. vomiting and hallucinating.....
day two... I couldn't sleep. again, when I did tried... I felt in fear. I saw darkness.... deep darkness.... and a light grey form from a distance.... that zoomed fast forward to my sight, and it had huge eyes... again I screamed out loud to leave me alone! in fear, I sat on my bed.... Monday morning arrived..... haven't eaten, have drank ... but feeling out of place, because all I was thinking was my son, my life, who I wanted to be stronger for, he is my life, and he wasn't in my heart, my thoughts... I would have lost completely all the grip of reality! MY SON SAVED MY LIFE.....

I took him to school, came back home and rehearsed my house hold chores. I then entered my room, but felt fear. There was a weird feeling in my room..... that wasn't there before.

I have called many of my friends, and many of them though I was nuts, until I spoke to Laurie, and Red Clay woman. with in those days, I then had art shows, I went because art is what I so love, and I wanted to medicate this horrible fear that I cant seem where did this steamed from?

Monday night... again didn't sleep. Tuesday morning, took my son to school, got home, routines and at home... then entered my room again, and I saw a shadow from the back of my room run fast to my left. I froze. I stood there, in my room... I froze. the awful feelings that I had on Saturday night, entered my body again! the burning of my back, the icy hot feeling, the sweating... I said NO MORE!

I closed my eyes, as I stood then re opened them, and I SCREAMED OUT LOUD! GET OUT OF MY ROOM, GET OUT OF MY HOUSE, LEAVE ME ALONE! I AM TIRED TIRED OF NOT SLEEPING, AND I WANT MY LIFE BACK.

IF YOUR A GOOD SPIRIT, STAY, BUT LEAVE ME ALONE AND MY FAMILY.
IF YOU ARE NOT, YOU HAVE NO BUSINESS HERE!

LEAVE ME ALONE! LEAVE ME ALONE !!!! IF YOU WANT TO STAY DON'T BTOERH ME NORE MY FAMILY.

I LET YOU BE, THEN YOU LET ME BE!

my body then slowly went back to normal.... I took a deep breath while in that room. and the weird feeling in this room vanished, like in thin air.

I took another breath.... and I cried and a huge grin appeared on my face. I didn't force my face to smile.... it did it.... by itself? ( weird ...right....? ! )

I felt that I conquered something, but my body was also toyed with something unknown to me.... and thus the way I now see things is a bit altered, but not out my intentions.... Channeled in processing the spiritual wasnt my goal at all!

Tuesday night, I finally was able to sleep!
I finally as able to sleep without nightmares
that I was having since Saturday night

This made me happy that when it became Wednesday morning.  started to eat again. and now I am in control, and stronger....

Thank you for baring with me, these days... It wasn't that I wanted to distance myself... I was really going through something that  couldn't explain... embarrassed tha many though I was crazy, and how I was able to have my son feel at ease, under invisible chaos!

LOVE IS LOVE, and it proved itself to me!

SHOUT _ OUT: its awsome to see " Fly Lady Di " do amazing things! take a read at her journey

I was so privileged to have had the chance to meet Fly Lady Di a couple of years ago, while she stayed here in New York City. I was also privileged to have seen her work, and even more exciting to see them live, and being created in the many New york City spots all around New York City, as she one of a few DYNAMIC painters that I have been encountered in meeting.

I was stunned to have seen her mentioned my name in this article, as she mentions many other powerful painters that I too am so delighted in knowing, such as Lichiban, Crystal Clarity, and Concep. I haven't had the chance to know the other painters she mentioned here, when I do, I will know why she look to them as well.

Blessings as they come and go, I am honored as always to have met her, for now she is currently a professional dancer in her home town Toronto Canada

"Art Episodes" : Features GIANNINA GUTIERREZ. Filmed and edited by: Marthalicia Matarrita

Gia Gutierrez, live art performer living in Harlem.

I featured her for several reasons. She is female, and also a painter. She is Latina and also living in Harlem. I found her work to be very inspiring and touching the realm of Salvador Dali's free spirited style and conceptualized in the figurative manner.

I am planning on continuing featuring many live art performers like her to tell a story of the need to utilize paint and art in public manner for many to see and witness the how dynamic it truly is to have such a night life combination while being in New York City.

do hope you enjoy these short documentaries, I am trying hard to filming and editing for such a cause. Its not about me, its not about them, its about OUR need to convey this important message of   "Saving The Arts now, and for our Children's Future".

THE ARTIST PROCESS

Saturday September 4th, 2010

joined others at 5 Pointz, a well-known quarter in Queens, NY, where artists from all over come out to create art and celebrate freedom of expression by showcasing their art across building walls. The artists took to the famed brick canvas to paint the phrase “The Artist Process” as feleciacruz (co-founder of Fighting For Futures) captured it all on film. Acclaimed New York City “live art performer” and director of this project, Marthalicia, was quoted as saying:

“We all live in NYC, so we all have a rhythm…These are just

layers, you can say, of all the art that has been expressed here...

I hope this event can show and tell people there is a lot of love

for the creating and hopefully this love can equal positive energy.”

The Artist Process, a film by Marthalicia and a feleciacruz production, is a twelve-minute documentary created to showcase the power of human expression through art. Following the lives of four artists, including Marthalicia, Lichiban, Mister Metro and Danielle Mastrion, The Artist Process captures the intimate details of the artists’ lives as they prepare for the project and the connection they share with the other locals as they combine forces in an effort to bring a community together through their collective expression.

A powerful and colorful statement about expression, communication and compassion, The Artist Process will have its debut screening at "Headquarters" (1381 Myrtle Ave .Brooklyn, Ny) on Saturday, September 4, 2010, along with live performances by local musicians and will showcase works by the artists involved in The Artist Process. Donations will be collected throughout the night and portions of proceeds from both the door and the sale of the artwork will be donated to help fund The Artist Process 2, helping bring together even more artists and bring to light the importance of artistic expression in our communities.

In keeping with that mission, premiering at the event is “The Across The Board Project” a short documentary filmed and edited by participants from VONYʼs (Voices Of New York) “Dare To Dream Project” youth program. Featuring autistic children, participants from VONYʼs (Voices Of New York) “Kids Dream In Color” youth program with teaching artist Lichiban, artist mentor Marthalicia, neo-soul singer Bilal, and art therapist Lina Meza-Morillo.
