New Painting created at Brooklyn's Shea Stadium... with great art friends for the Album release party

Starting to utilize animals and also text in my new works.... just feeling it out, trying to expand in some way

George " Urban Jibaro" Torres, gave me a shout out in a spanish network television TELEMUNDO... Love ya and Thank you so much!! GOD bless you

I don't know what to say... I was so speechless when I received a "facebook notification" stating the George Torres, "Urban Jibaro" left me a note.

As I scrolled down and read in full details all the info he linked me and many others of his note, stating that my picture was in telemundo... ( Telemundo, is a Spanish network television program/ station... like channel FOX 5, lol .  http://msnlatino.telemundo.com/ ) I was like "eh?" I had to re read that note... and from there  received the biggest chills and glee as I clicked away to the link website with the segment of George's mission!

What a guy! Just recently met him, and found him as a person with great community values, and one that is always sincere and true to the development of culture awareness... I am in deep respects to George and many others like him that fight hard to make those that need enrichment of culture and reviving its spirits!

"VAYAAA!!!!! My day is really starting off on the right foot...

I recently had the opportunity to visit Telemundo Studios and talk a little bit about what I do...and why I do it. This conversation was edited as part of the Pepsi Yo Sumo campaign and is airing in different parts of the country over this week and next. I unfortunately missed the NYC broadcast but thanks to MUN2, I can share that video segment with you here today! I will be honest and say that since I was young, I always knew I would be on Telemundo...I just though it would be as a member of Menudo (when I was like 11) or as a Galan in a novela (in my early 20's) It turns out that I made it doing what is in my heart...which is connecting Latinos and people who love us to our culture and rich heritage.

A special shout out to everyone that supports the blog, the events and community initiatives that PapoSwiggity and I develop with our Sofrito Media Group / Capicu Team...without you I do not have a story to tell.

**Special Thanks to nis amigas Maribel Teran...and Abby (@Abbyce on twitter) for trying to help me get a copy of this via the live broadcast in Texas! You ladies ROCK!"

I love my family, art, and friends and I love them in that order; with side order of fun ....

I never really celebrated my birthdays while growing up, just shared the day with family, going out for a long walks, going to the movie theaters and then eating together. that's it. I didn't have the balloons, nor the cake nor people that celebrate them with me. I feel like I am now learning about this for and with my son.

A year ago today,  have gotten to know Lexi Bella, another painter from New York city who has been developing her style as much as I have, and shared similar passion for the arts, although we are both different from our perspective and life style, we both have an understanding that art is what we are channeled to do, something to create and have a strong pulling to it.

Last year 2009, Lexi and I were sitting on the chair of an Art Battle study group and have talked about life, and discovering a bit more about each other as much as we did for the other artist there. We both came across our birhtdays, in one of these conversations, and we noticed that we shared the same month, APRIL, and we both went goo goo for the arts. What a crazy idea to have a party where paint and celebration for what we do can be shared with others, others who like us, do what we do.... Bingo, as the month progressed towards the month of April, we thought it would be a great idea to find a spot and paint while we celebrate our month. We got together and started talking about this special party with other artist and got a few who were interested. Bingo, now we we are ready and had made a great experience with our art friends and thus provided a buzz for the following year birthday expectations to do this one more time. Lexi and I thought about the details and we came off with these ideas:

Live Art Painters, nude body art, other live artist, break dancers by Shea Butter and my older brother Tomas Manon " B-BOY ATOMIC" , DJ and Drag queen performance by two lovely dancers. And as a result the following photos captured by awesome photographers such as : Joanna Gomez ( Music Looks Like This), Selo, Kenneth Watson, Toby Klinger "Kismet Karanfil". Many many surprise guest arrived that night, such as Dee Vasquez, Conscious, Tasty Keish BONFIRE family, Trust Your struggle family BOUNCE and Erin Yoshi, and many many more artist family from different venues and circles.

Enjoy

there more pics to arrive. hold tigt.... love ya'll ~martha
