Libation Art work and experience.

What a great night: I sold a painting, and had so much fun at Libation with Voodoo Ray and Danny Castro, not to mention the awesome Pesu and Yaz!

The unfortunate experience of the night: I left to clean my brushes, and I asked a young ady to see that no one touches my book bag. I was so delighted that I sold that painting, and I placed my winnings into that bag. As I returned, she mentions to me that a man crouched down, unzipped my bag and reached in, she tells him that its not yours, but his reply was; " That girl( meaning me), told me to get her something from here". I was frozen and stunned that it happened, as she then pointed to the guy who caught my eyes, as he sped right out the door....

" SOUL MUSIC ICON BILAL TO HEADLINE LADIES LOVE NYC’S FIRST ANNUAL TRIBUTE TO

HIP-HOP AND AUTISM AWARENESS FUNDRAISER

All Female Talent Collective Collaborates with World Renowned Artists to Serve as a Catalyst for Change

New York, NY (May 19, 2009) – Statistics now point to one in 150 children, or one child every 20 minutes, being diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder, making it more prevalent than pediatric cancer, diabetes and AIDS combined. The exact numbers of those diagnosed are uncalculated. However, Ladies Love NYC is determined to reach each and every local individual who is living with Autism, to ensure that those affected by ASD are receiving the support and education they need to thrive.

In partnership with Autism Speaks, the nation’s largest autism science and advocacy organization, Ladies Love NYC is hosting its First Annual Tribute to Hip-Hop and Autism Awareness Fundraiser on Thursday, June 4th, 2009 from 9 p.m. – 2 a.m. at Brooklyn’s South Paw, 125 5th Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11217. Admission is $8 in advance with RSVP and $12 at the door.

“It seems that only families with high incomes get an opportunity to really help their autistic kids,” said independent recording artist, Bilal. “Resources are needed that are accessible to everyone regardless of income levels and status,” he continued.

The evening will include a high-energy b-girl and house battle/dance performance judged by Renegade (RSC) and FlyLadyDi. Guests will enjoy a DJ exhibition, and The Igmar Thomas & The Cypher featuring Bilal, US Hip-Hop Ambassador Toni Blackman, Invincible, and Nicki Guiland (Heavy) performing old school hip-hop and break classics. Art enthusiasts will have an opportunity to participate in the highly anticipated silent auction of graffiti and Hip-Hop inspired art and photography by internationally recognized talents like MarthAlicia, Mike Schreiber, and Noelle Theard. Ladies Love NYC will donate a portion of the door’s proceeds and 30% of the auction’s final bid to Autism Speaks.

“Autism Speaks NYC Walk is excited that Ladies Love NYC are promoting autism awareness in the New York City communities through music. Music of any kind; classical, hip-hop, rock, jazz can get anyone in a happy mood but for those that are on the autism spectrum, it can be a way to communicate and learn,” said Jena Greco, Autism Speaks NYC/NNJ Walk Director.

About Ladies Love NYC:

A collective of women in the arts raising awareness of issues affecting our communities and lives while creating a positive platform for other females.

Ladies Love NYC is an all female collective founded by Mary Pryor of We Fancy Agency that currently consists of: Laurie Markiewicz (Event Producer, Arise Collective), Tchaiko Omawale (My Fave Things), Meghan Stabile (Revive Da Live), DJ Brina Payne (GakCity), Lauren Lissette, Kristina Marino (Vibe), Nakia Booth (Sugatreats Radio/DMS Country) and Boyuan Gao (Beyond Race Magazine/Arise Collective).

About Autism:

Autism is a complex brain disorder that inhibits a person’s ability to communicate and develop social relationships, and is often accompanied by behavioral challenges. Autism spectrum disorders are diagnosed in one in 150 children in the United States, affecting four times as many boys as girls. The prevalence of autism has increased tenfold in the last decade. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have called autism a national public health crisis whose cause and cure remain unknown.

About Autism Speaks:

Autism Speaks is the nation’s largest autism science and advocacy organization, dedicated to funding research into the causes, prevention, treatments and a cure for autism; increasing awareness of autism spectrum disorders; and advocating for the needs of individuals with autism and their families. Autism Speaks funds more than $30 million each year in new autism research, in addition to supporting the Autism Treatment Network, Autism Genetic Resource Exchange, Autism Clinical Trials Network, Autism Tissue Program and a range of other scientific and medical programs. Notable awareness initiatives include the establishment of the annual United Nations-sanctioned World Autism Awareness Day on April 2 and an award-winning, multi-year national public service advertising campaign with the Ad Council. Autism Speaks’ family services efforts include the Autism Video Glossary, a 100 Day Kit for newly-diagnosed families, a School Community Tool Kit and the distribution of community grants to local service providers. Its government relations department, through its Autism Votes initiative, has played a critical role in securing federal legislation to advance the federal government’s response to autism, and has successfully advocated for insurance reform to require insurers to cover medically necessary autism therapies. Each year, Walk Now for Autism Speaks fundraising events are held in more than 70 cities across the country, as well as Canada and the United Kingdom. Regressive Evolution: Evolution Regresiva

On Saturday September 13, 2008, I had my second showing of my paintings in a collective visual presentation at the Red Room, in Washington Heights. My older sister Margarita and her friend Will Teez help me establish this showing with their friend and family at my opening that day. Why am I bringing this up, I will break it down: My art show lasted for a month, and upon this particular month, Inti, a Colombian gentlemen asked my sister as to who created those art works on the Red Room walls, (as she was currently working at that spot). My sister replied proudly "my sister did all of those, how may I help you?" "Wow" was his reply.

They talked for a bit and one month later I was in contact with him. We spoke on and off, and also had a brief meeting that eventually ended having my art, and my definition of art at his very cool, unique booklet / pamphlet. If you want a copy or want to know more as how to either contribute or be shown here, please contact Inti: RegressiveEvolution@gmail.com

"The following is a description of what they stand for:
Regressive Evolution is a "Creative Marketing- Multimedia Project" unifying art with enterprises on one platform. Our "marketing Proposition" consists on the conjugation of our independent multimedia tools, using print, web, radio, video and event planning to create an alternative marketing raiding. Our Campaign begins with a magazine, which would be guided by a monthly given concept. Once the magazine is printed and distributed, the content will be configured using audio, editorial content, fashion, film, graphic design and culinary arts combined with other forms of expressions to create a "multi-expressive event. "The Magazine and the event will coincide with advertising of our affiliated companies
....." There is more to read and discover. Below is a little snip bit of my personal art definition and a painting I created at a live art show News Years eve, at Blaggards in NYC.

New Design High School. (Art / Mural Project )

What an honor! My friend Borish, (from trust your struggle: trustyourstruggle.com), invited not only me but also a few of my ill est female friends to really get down on them murals in this school called: The school is: New Design High School.

This school is located at: 350 Grand st. in the LES. Its in the Seward Park building 4th floor, really close to the W'Burg bridge. JMF to Delancy or Essex. You can also check out this link to help see other past murals created by either the Trust Your Struggle Movement and other kats like them here: rooftoplegends2007.blogspot.com

These few images are done during the passing or coming of a few thunderstorms that limited my speed of drying and also production. I am sharing this to give you a glimpse of whats current. Also my little boy Wesly was able to help me during these wet days. Our socks are wet, are cloth and all of what we carried wet wet wet... But I have one more week to work on it before May 16.
